Change of plans for Memorial Day weekend. With cloud cover and rain ruining the planned trip to the Badlands, we opted for a trip to Kansas. Always have several back up locations. With have the driving distance we were able to photograph several abandoned building and the highlight was the one room school building called Lower Fox Creek School near Strong Kansas. We were able to start shooting soon after sunset and use a bit of the afterglow to our benefit for atmospherics. We then used colored gels on the opposite side of the building to illuminate the interior of the school room and used coleman lantern’s placed around the area to illuminate the foreground. Kansas will be a focal point for many other Light painting and Night photography workshops and lessons in the coming months. So contact me if your interested in heading up there with me for your own personal Light painting and Night photography class.
Did a nice easy Light Painting and Night photography workshop near Thurber Texas. The abandoned “Trolley 373” barbecue restaurant & gas station was a great pit stop for a night of light painting since there was no ambient street lights to hinder the dark look of this I-20 icon. Was ment to be a nice of storm chasing and photographing lightning. But nature had other plans so we adapted and used this location to fill the evening.
Remember, every weekend is a weekend of light painting workshops and night photography classes. So contact me for your own personal lesson or group workshop. I typically never waste a weekend so I am always planning on shooting somewhere.
